Diabetes… what whole world is living under the threat of, with more than 50% of population of developing countries and 75% population of developed countries facing this problem, diabetes is emerging as one of the biggest health problem for human race. Why is diabetes so popular, as in why it has become so common? Why even those who are not diabetic taking care of themselves so that they don’t get it? Is it really worth that much attention or just hype? Today I’ll answer all these questions of yours.
Let’s start with the disease itself, what exactly is diabetes? Diabetes is often describes as a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Now, the question arises what is insulin? Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that allows your body to use sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates in the food that you eat for energy or to store glucose for future use, thus helps keeps your blood sugar level from getting too high or too low.
Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience frequent urination, they will start experiencing increased thirst and hunger, weight loss, fatigue, skin problems, blurred vision, slow healing of wounds and many more symptoms could be there.
Diabetes is generally categorized into two:
- Diabetes Type – 1: In this the body stops production of insulin.
- Diabetes Type – 2: In this the body does not produce enough insulin for proper function, or the cells in the body develop resistance against insulin or they do not react with insulin.
And now you yourself might have understood that diabetes is not a disease that you can oversee and not take care of, if not properly addressed, it may soon make you go weak, decrease you immunity and shorten the distance between you and death. But, till the time I am here no disease can create such panic at least among my readers.
All types of diabetes are treatable. Diabetes type 1 lasts a lifetime, there is no known cure. Type 2 usually lasts a life time; however, some people have managed to get rid of their symptoms without medication, through a combination of exercise and natural remedies. And these natural remedies I am going to share with you guys.
Fenugreek seeds are rich in sugar-lowering properties. Even the leaves of this plant can be made as curry and consumed regularly. Fenugreek helps to reduce the insulin dependency when taken in regular intervals. A teaspoon-full of seeds should be soaked in a glass of water over night and the water along with the seeds should be drunk on empty stomach. No foods or medications should be taken for the next 30 minutes after consuming the water. This treatment is recommended for 2 – 3 times per week.
- Pterocarpus marsupium:
Pterocarpus marsupium is considered especially useful in people with type 2 diabetes. Studies have found that pterocarpus extracts may be able to reduce the glucose absorption by the intestines, making it effective in diabetes type 2. This anti-diabetic action has also been noted in some clinical studies carried out on humans.
Immerse a piece of pterocarpus wood in a glass of drinking water at night and drink the water the next morning. The same piece of wood can be used for two or three days.
- Fig Leaves:
Figs leaves are very commonly used in treating diabetes. They are believed to have anti-diabetic properties that help them to reduce the sugar levels in the blood. Fig leaves can be directly chewed on an empty stomach, or the leaves can be boiled in water and the water can be drunk like tea. Done on a regular basis, the need for insulin gets reduced.
- Basil Leaves:
Basil leaves have power to lower blood sugar levels. Basil leaves contain potent antioxidants that relieve oxidative stress; it’s this stress that compounds problems in diabetics.
Cinnamon works so well as a natural diabetes treatment because it softens the cell membranes, boosts the immune system, and most importantly, mimics the action of insulin to regulate blood sugar. It helps enormously with both type I and type II diabetes, and over time, can help to reduce synthetic insulin and drug dependency among sufferers.
- Olive Leaf Extract:
Because we now know that a toxic overload of microbes and parasites in the body has a great deal to do with the onset and exacerbation of both type I and type II diabetes, olive leaf extract will help tremendously with both of these conditions. The other big benefit of taking OLE is it super-chargers and boosts the immune system better than anything else going around (yes even coconut oil). This is just another feather in the bow for all diabetes sufferers because a strong immune system will not only guarantee the death of your diabetes; it will also stop it from being able to return again.
- Black Seed:
It’s a very powerful anti-inflammatory and immune booster, which is why it has such a profound and positive effect on auto-immune disorders such as type I and type II diabetes. In a recent study, organizers gave two grams of black seed a day to adult-onset diabetics. They found that it reduced fasting glucose levels, decreased insulin resistance, and increased beta-cell function in all participants.
- Bitter Melon:
One of the big benefits of bitter melon for diabetes suffers is it regulates blood glucose levels throughout the whole body rather than just certain tissues or organs. Because it helps to prevent insulin resistance and also increases pancreatic insulin secretion, its ideal for both type I and type II diabetics. Use a juice extractor to extract the juice and drink a glass of bitter melon juice on an empty stomach each morning. You can also make up a bitter melon tea to drink in the winter months for extra benefit.
Neem leaf extracts and seeds are used as an active ingredient as an effective cure for diabetes. It has been scientifically proven after a number of tests and research by leading medical institutes, that neem parts have high efficiency in treating the disease. Natural neem tablets are being manufactured and exported the world over for treating large number of patients. Neem leaf extracts improve the blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels and also helpful in reducing the need for hypo-glycaemic drugs. According to scientific research undertaken neem leaf extracts and seed oil help to reduce the insulin requirement. Neem tablets help to lower the blood glucose levels.
These are the natural foods that can help you reverse the diabetes and once again lead a healthy and normal life. But, apart from the above given foods there are some other practices also that you need to follow in order to get fully rid off this disease. Some other practices that you can easily follow and be a step forward from diabetes are:
- Control the intake of calories:
I know it’s a bit hard step, but the key to success lies just behind the ease. Here I am not saying to totally boycott the sweet intake, instead take alternatives. Go for natural juice instead of packed juices, use calorie free sugar in preparing coffee and wherever possible. The lesser the amount of sugar will go in the lesser would be the trouble for the body to digest it. You can keep a diary and note the calorie intake and take care accordingly. This could be a totally life changing step for you.
- Natural Uncooked Food:
Natural uncooked food is the best medicine for all types of diseases. They have got their own enzymes. They are not diluted with chemicals. Food such as sprouts, fruits, juices, nuts and so on can be taken raw. Eating a diet rich in fibre helps the body to absorb sugars slowly, which in turn keeps blood sugar levels balanced. Soluble type of fibre does the best job of stabilising blood sugar levels. Apples, apricots, beets, berries, carrots, citrus fruits, parsnips, and winter squash are some fruits and vegetables which are rich in soluble fibre.
Yes, good old fashioned simple water is still the best liquid you can drink by a long shot! It helps with digestion of food and flushes toxins out of the body. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially after every meal as this will help to normalize your blood sugar levels. If plain water is just too boring for you then simply add a slice or two of lemon for taste. In fact, lemon is actually very good for diabetes suffers because it boosts the immune system and aids in digestion, along with helping to balance your body’s crucial pH level.
- Regular exercise:
Regular exercise you can be performed in any form may it be in the form of morning and evening walk, running, jogging, light weight exercises, push-ups, or whatever suits you. The main aim behind exercise is that carbohydrates present in the body are utilized while body works out thus, the deposition of glucose is lesser in the body. So, more you’ll exercise, the more you’ll get rid off the high glucose level in the body. Moreover, exercising improves the blood flow throughout the body so it maintains the proper supply of nutrients and oxygen to all the body parts and help stay fit.
- Say no to smoking:
Totally boycott smoking and the presence of smokers around you. Smoking not only doubles the risk of diabetes by decreasing the functioning of pancreas but also it damages cells ability to use insulin. So, before thinking again just drop that packet of cigarette into dustbin if you want to go ahead with the cure of diabetes. If you are following all other tips and not giving up on smoking then it’s all waste. Trust me, for once it might feel like impossible, but think about your family, they need you more than you need smoke.
So, what are you waiting for, here’s the information and there are you. Information is useless unless it’s put into practice. So it’s important that you take what we’ve recommended here and apply it consistently and get ready to see results. I’ll be waiting for your reviews and suggestions, so keep commenting…!!
